Thank you for purchasing our products.

To use the new sounds, you need the Yamaha Expansion Manager (YEM). This free tool is essential for managing and loading new sounds. The YEM gives you the opportunity to transfer the contents of an expansion into the memory of your keyboard.

Under the heading "My Packs" you can import and manage your expansion.

Under the heading "Install Target" you will find your instrument, after which you have registered your keyboard with the "Instrument Info File" from your keyboard. Single sign-on is mandatory for your keyboard to be listed in the selectable list.

In order to transfer expansion and / or content to your keyboard, you must select your instrument under the heading "Install Target" (in this example the Tyros 5 is selected / Purple background) and the expansion "CMS Grand Piano". (Visible by the "green hook") In the upper part of the display you can see the expansions imported into the YEM, in the lower part the contents of the respective expansion. Here you can even activate or deactivate individual parts of an expansion and thus select what should be transferred to the memory of your keyboard.

There are two ways to transfer data from the Yamaha Expansion Manager to your keyboard.

1.) "Save as Pack Install File"

2.) "Send to Instrument"

With the function "Save as Pack Install File" you can generate an installation file, with which you can invite the selected data directly to your keyboard via USB stick.

With the function "Send to Instrument" you can transfer the data from your PC / MAC via WLAN to the memory of your keyboard. For this, you need the WLAN stick included in the delivery of the keyboard and both your computer (PC / MAC) and your keyboard must be logged into your WLAN network (router).

The fastest and most efficient option is the transmission via WLAN. With the direct invitation process via USB stick, you can not vary the content or delete or add individual data, as the memory is always reformatted before each invitation process. So, if you want to make changes, you'll need to generate a new installer file with changed content each time and overwrite the entire memory contents. This takes a relatively long time and does not provide flexibility.

Therefore we recommend that you use the WLAN connection when using the expansion (also with regard to the optimal memory usage).
